Dhaka, Jun 14 (V7N) – The Ministry of Culture has announced a three-day nationwide program across 74 upazilas in 64 districts to celebrate National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Barsho, scheduled to be held from June 18 to 20.

Culture Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury made the announcement at a press briefing held at the Secretariat on Sunday.

The minister said that National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam remains a symbol of rebellion and inspiration for freedom from oppression. He added that the government aims to expand the practice and appreciation of Nazrul’s literary and musical works across the country through the upcoming programs.

He also remarked that Nazrul’s cultural contributions had not received adequate attention in recent years, and said the current administration is committed to revitalizing nationwide engagement with his works.

The minister further said that the celebrations will include cultural events, discussions, and performances aimed at promoting Nazrul’s poetry, music, and revolutionary ideals among younger generations.

Officials noted that the initiative is part of a broader cultural program marking the 127th birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Earlier, the government had launched the Nazrul Barsho observance on May 25, featuring nationwide cultural activities to honor the legacy of the national poet.
