Panchagarh, Jun 08 (V7N) – The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has finally taken back 10 men, women and children who had been stranded at the Barabari border in Panchagarh following a failed push-in attempt that lasted four days.

According to border sources, the BSF switched off lights on the Indian side of the border several times late on Sunday night before taking the group back into Indian territory. After removing the individuals from the border area, the lights were turned on again.

The development was confirmed by Lt. Col. Md. Sirajul Islam, commander of the 56th BGB Battalion in Nilphamari.

Earlier, in the early hours of Friday, the BSF allegedly attempted to push the 10 people into Bangladesh through the Barabari border. However, due to the firm position of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), they were unable to enter Bangladesh and remained stranded in the Indian zero line area.

The group had been staying in a narrow strip of agricultural land along the border since Friday morning. Several flag meetings were held between the BGB and BSF at company and battalion levels, but the BSF initially declined to take them back.

Tensions rose again around noon on Sunday when another attempt was reportedly made to push the group into Bangladesh from the Indian side. The BGB maintained its position and prevented any unauthorized entry.

Although the stranded individuals have now been taken back into India, BGB officials said border patrols and security measures remain in place. The force has also intensified surveillance and strengthened patrol activities along various border points in Panchagarh to prevent illegal infiltration and future push-in attempts.

Border authorities said the situation is currently under control, but vigilance has been heightened to ensure the security and integrity of the frontier.
