Dhaka, Jun 02 (V7N) — Working people have started returning to the capital following the Eid-ul-Azha holiday, but passenger pressure at Kamalapur Railway Station remains relatively low compared to expectations.
Many city residents began returning to Dhaka from the day after Eid in an effort to avoid heavy crowds and travel-related difficulties. As a result, railway passengers reported a smooth and hassle-free journey back to the capital.
Passengers arriving at Kamalapur said that trains were operating normally and that they experienced little congestion during their return trip. Many travelers chose to return early to avoid the rush expected at the end of the holiday period.
Meanwhile, a small number of people were still leaving Dhaka on Monday to spend additional time with their families outside the capital. However, railway officials and passengers noted that the number of outbound travelers was significantly lower than during the days leading up to Eid.
Several passengers said that while they had encountered crowded conditions when leaving Dhaka before Eid, their return journey was considerably more comfortable due to the staggered return of holidaymakers.
This year's Eid-ul-Azha holiday provided an extended break for government officials and employees, who enjoyed a seven-day vacation from May 25 to May 31. The extended holiday allowed many people to plan their return trips in advance, helping reduce congestion on transportation networks.
Authorities expect the flow of returning passengers to continue over the next few days as offices, businesses, and educational institutions gradually resume normal operations.
