Dhaka, Jun 01, (V7N) – As the Eid-ul-Azha holidays draw to a close, thousands of holidaymakers and working people have begun returning to the capital from different parts of the country. Increased passenger pressure was observed at major transport hubs, including Kamalapur Railway Station, highways and river terminals, from Monday morning.

With offices and businesses reopening after the extended holiday, Dhaka-bound travelers have resumed their journeys by road, rail and waterways. A large number of passengers were seen arriving at Kamalapur Railway Station throughout the day. Despite crowded trains, many passengers described their journeys as comfortable and largely hassle-free.

Traffic flow on key highways, including the Dhaka-Tangail, Dhaka-Chattogram and Dhaka-Mymensingh routes, also increased significantly as travelers headed back to the capital. However, authorities reported no major traffic congestion on the major highways, allowing commuters to reach their destinations smoothly.

Law enforcement personnel remained deployed at important points across the road network to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement and maintain public safety during the post-Eid return rush.

Meanwhile, passenger movement also intensified at Daulatdia Ghat in Rajbari, one of the country's busiest river crossings. Despite the increased demand, ferry services continued operating normally, with no long queues of vehicles reported.

According to transport authorities, 16 ferries and 20 launches are operating on the Daulatdia-Paturia route to facilitate the movement of passengers and vehicles across the Padma River.

Many travelers returning by waterway expressed satisfaction with the overall management of transport services during the Eid period. Passengers said they had sent family members back to Dhaka earlier to avoid the rush and were able to complete their own journeys without facing significant difficulties.

Several passengers also noted that transport operators did not charge additional fares and that services remained largely disciplined throughout the holiday season.

Sources said members of the Coast Guard remained on alert during the Eid travel period to ensure passenger safety amid adverse weather conditions and to respond quickly to any potential accidents on waterways.

Authorities expect passenger movement toward the capital to continue throughout the day as the final phase of the Eid holiday concludes.
