Rajbari, May 23 (V7N) – Sacrificial cattle markets in Rajbari have begun operating ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, but trade activity remains relatively slow due to low buyer turnout on the first days of the season.

On Saturday (May 23), one of the district’s major cattle markets saw a steady arrival of sacrificial animals, mostly small and medium-sized local breed cows brought in by farmers and traders. However, the number of buyers was noticeably limited during the early hours.

Livestock traders and market leaseholders said they expect sales to pick up in the afternoon and in the coming days as Eid approaches and more buyers enter the market.

Sellers claim that rising feed costs have significantly increased the expense of raising cattle, which has pushed prices upward. They argue that current rates are still reasonable given market conditions and are expected to stabilize as more markets open in the district.

Buyers, however, say many sellers are currently demanding higher prices due to the early phase of the season. Many shoppers are visiting multiple markets to compare prices before making purchases.

Despite the slow start, both buyers and sellers remain optimistic that trade will gain momentum in the days leading up to Eid.
