Dhaka, May 12 (V7N) – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir has warned that strict disciplinary and legal action will be taken against any member of the police force found involved in drug trafficking or consumption.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at the IGP Batch Presentation Ceremony held on Tuesday (May 12) afternoon at Rajarbagh Police Lines, marking achievements in drug control and arms recovery as part of Police Week 2026.

The IGP said that drugs pose a serious threat to the country’s youth and future generations, adding that Bangladesh Police is working with “efficiency and professionalism” to combat the menace. He emphasized that no officer or member of the force will be spared if found involved in drug-related offences.

He also stated that efforts are underway to restore discipline and public trust within the police force. Referring to past challenges, he said the institution had faced periods of isolation, but is now gradually rebuilding its image through reforms and internal discipline.

The police chief reiterated that maintaining integrity within law enforcement is essential to ensure effective national drug control efforts.
