Dhaka, Apr 08 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is currently operating under an ad hoc convening committee led by Tamim Iqbal, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed clarified on Wednesday, dismissing claims that special committees referred to as “father’s prayer” and “mother’s prayer” had been formed.

The comments came in response to remarks by Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), during the first session of the National Parliament. Abdullah had criticized the BCB, claiming it had turned into a “father’s prayer cricket board.”

Salahuddin Ahmed explained that during the interim government, the sports advisor had influenced district sports organizations and registered clubs nationwide to form BCB committees. A High Court writ challenging the formation of these committees remained pending. Following an investigation into alleged irregularities, the board was dissolved. Subsequently, the current government formed a convening committee under the leadership of Tamim Iqbal to oversee the BCB’s operations.

He emphasized that no committees referred to as “father’s prayer” or “mother’s prayer” have been established by the BCB.
