Dhaka, Oct 30 (V7N)- Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali has emphasized that the police must act impartially and professionally in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Speaking at the Grand Welfare Meeting at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh, the DMP Commissioner said that the February general election is crucial, as citizens have been deprived of voting rights for a long time. He stressed that the police must ensure voters can exercise their rights without obstruction, and those responsible for irregularities in the 2018 elections should be held accountable.
He also urged officers to remain vigilant against illegal gatherings while avoiding actions that could create misunderstandings or distance between the police and the public.
The meeting included statements from police members, which Commissioner Sheikh Sajjat Ali assured would be addressed. Present at the event were Additional Police Commissioners Md. Sarwar, S. N. Md. Nazrul Islam, Md. Shafiqul Islam, and 850 police officers of various ranks.
