Dhaka, Oct 01 (V7N) – A fake photocard circulating on Facebook, claiming to quote Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam on the issue of bail for criminals, has been dismissed as false by the Police Headquarters.

The viral post alleged that the IGP said, “It is incomprehensible how big criminals who have been arrested are released on bail within two-three days.”

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the Police Headquarters clarified that the IGP never made such a statement. It said the viral photocard was created by distorting remarks from the IGP’s briefing at Police Headquarters on Tuesday (Sept 30).

The statement further added that the Media Wing of the Police Headquarters strongly protests the deliberate spread of false information intended to mislead the public.
