New York, Sep 27 (V7N) – Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has called for the urgent implementation of a two-state solution, establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Delivering his speech in Bengali at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Friday night (Bangladesh time), Dr. Yunus warned that extreme nationalism, destructive geopolitics, and global indifference to human suffering are undermining decades of progress.

“We are witnessing the most tragic picture in Gaza,” he said. “Children are dying of starvation, civilians are being killed indiscriminately, and entire towns including hospitals and schools are being destroyed. An indiscriminate genocide is being committed before our eyes, yet we are failing to act on behalf of humanity. If this continues, future generations and history will not forgive us.”

On behalf of Bangladesh and the global conscience, Dr. Yunus strongly reiterated the demand for a two-state solution “based on the pre-1967 borders, where Israel and Palestine can coexist peacefully.”
