Dhaka, Sep 17 (V7N) – Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has expressed confidence that this year’s upcoming Durga Puja will be more festive and peaceful than last year.
He made the remarks during a visit to the Ramna Kali Temple in Dhaka on Wednesday (September 17) afternoon ahead of the religious festival.
The Advisor assured that the interim government has taken comprehensive security measures to ensure smooth celebrations. “The law and order situation is good. However, all puja mandaps will remain under 24-hour surveillance,” he said.
Chowdhury also warned of attempts by vested groups to disrupt communal harmony. “Since August 5, some quarters have been trying to incite members of traditional religions with misinformation—claiming that 500,000 Hindus have fled the country and that the Kantaji Temple has been demolished,” he added.
Meanwhile, S. N. Tarun Dey, Secretary General of the Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Trust, urged media professionals to remain vigilant and help prevent the spread of such rumors.
