DHAKA, June 9, (V7N) – Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus departed Dhaka this evening for London on a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom (UK), with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations.

"A flight of Emirates Airlines carrying the Chief Adviser and his entourage departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka for London at about 7:30 pm today," Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder confirmed to BSS.

During his visit, Professor Yunus is scheduled for a significant audience with His Majesty King Charles III and will engage in bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. These engagements were highlighted by acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique during a curtain-raiser briefing on June 4, 2025. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy is also expected to meet with the Chief Adviser.In a notable recognition of his extensive global contributions, King Charles III has nominated Professor Yunus for the 'King Charles III Harmony Award 2025'. This prestigious award honors his lifelong dedication to promoting peace, sustainability, and harmony between people and the environment. The award ceremony is set to take place at St James's Palace in London on June 12. The King's Foundation, a UK-based charity established in 1990 by then Prince of Wales, bestows this annual award upon individuals demonstrating exemplary achievements in sustainable development and humanitarian causes.

Beyond these high-level meetings, Professor Yunus is also slated to hold courtesy meetings with the Secretaries-General of the Commonwealth and the International Maritime Organization (IMO), underscoring Bangladesh's broader international engagements. As part of his public diplomacy efforts, he will deliver a special speech at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, on June 11. The Chief Adviser is expected to conclude his visit and return to Dhaka on June 14.
