Dhaka, May 30 (V7N) – Bangladesh Bank has officially released images of its newly designed 20, 50, and 1000 taka banknotes, set to be introduced into circulation starting June 1. The central bank confirmed in a press release on Thursday that these notes will coexist with the current denominations already in use.
The updated currency is part of a larger initiative titled “Historical and Archaeological Architecture of Bangladesh”, under which all denominations from 2 to 1000 taka will be gradually reissued with redesigned visuals and enhanced security features. The first notes under this series—20, 50, and 1000 taka—bear the signature of Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur and will initially be available from the Motijheel office, with distribution to other branches to follow.

Clarifying Rumors
Rumors had previously circulated that new currency notes might be released without the image of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, but those concerns have proven unfounded. Instead, the new series emphasizes national heritage and architecture, complementing the historical significance traditionally represented on Bangladesh's currency.
Bangladesh Bank reaffirmed that all existing notes will remain legal tender alongside the new ones. This modernization effort marks a major step in currency design, aligning aesthetics with robust security protocols and national identity.
