Dhaka, May 17 (V7N) — Despite today being a weekly holiday, all public and private banks and financial institutions across Bangladesh are operating as usual. This measure has been taken to align with the upcoming 10-day government-declared holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

Customers can carry out all types of banking transactions today, Saturday, just like any regular working day.

In addition to banks, trading activities at the country’s stock markets, including the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), are also continuing uninterrupted. Stock market transactions are taking place from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

The same arrangement will be in effect next Saturday, May 24, as part of the government's special holiday coordination plan.

Bangladesh Bank and the Dhaka Stock Exchange separately issued instructions last week, announcing this decision. It follows the interim government's directive issued at the Advisory Council meeting held on May 6, where it was decided that the Eid-ul-Azha holiday would extend from June 5 to June 14.

To facilitate the extended holiday period without disrupting public services and economic activities, the council resolved that all government offices—including banks and financial institutions—would remain open on May 17 and May 24, both of which fall on Saturdays.

This strategic move aims to ensure continuity in financial operations and minimize inconvenience to the public ahead of the long holiday.
