Dhaka, May 02 (V7N) – Fisheries and Livestock Affairs Advisor Farida Akhtar has praised the Bangladesh Police Women's Welfare Association (PUNAK) for its significant and unprecedented contributions to women's development. She also expressed optimism that PUNAK’s proactive initiatives would help reshape the public’s perception of the police force in a more positive light.

She made these remarks while addressing the annual PUNAK rally and fun fair, held on the occasion of Police Week 2025 at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital on Friday afternoon (May 2).

Highlighting the importance of the fisheries and livestock sector for the nation’s food security and livelihood, the advisor called on PUNAK to collaborate with the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in promoting and utilizing its products to further advance women's empowerment.

"The fisheries and livestock sector is essential for ensuring the sustenance of our people. PUNAK can play a strong role in enhancing women’s involvement in this sector,” said Farida Akhtar.

She further expressed hope that the country would progress even more rapidly under the leadership and talent of individuals like BIDA Executive Chairman Ashiq Chowdhury.

Lutfe Siddiqui, Special Envoy to the Chief Advisor, was also present at the event. She emphasized that the true objective of national reform is to deliver welfare and services directly to the people, urging that such services must reach every citizen effectively.
