Dhaka, Jun 28 (V7N) – The Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) has arrested former Member of Parliament for the Jamalpur-1 constituency and former president of the banned Bakshiganj Upazila Awami League, Nur Mohammad, from the capital's Gulshan area.
According to a DB press release, the arrest was made on Saturday during a raid at a residence in Gulshan.
The DB said Nur Mohammad is an accused in a case filed in Jamalpur under the Explosive Substances Act.
He is also a suspected accused in another case related to a procession and a cocktail explosion that took place in the Mohakhali Bus Terminal area of Dhaka on June 18, the statement added.
Law enforcement officials said the former lawmaker is currently being processed in accordance with legal procedures.
The Detective Branch also confirmed that necessary legal action is underway against the arrested accused in connection with the cases filed against him.
