Dhaka, May 02 (V7N) — The Returning Officer has declared the nomination of Jamaat-e-Mohammad and National Citizens Party (NCP) leader Nusrat Tabassum valid for a reserved women’s seat in the 13th National Parliament.
Returning Officer Md. Moin Uddin Khan confirmed the decision on Saturday after scrutinizing nomination papers at the Election Commission building.
He said Nusrat Tabassum’s documents were found in order and would now be forwarded to the Election Commission meeting for final approval. The official announcement will be made after completion of all procedural steps.
Earlier, her nomination was initially rejected as it was submitted after the April 21 deadline of 4:00 pm. However, following a court directive, the Election Commission was instructed to accept her application and process it in accordance with the law. After this legal intervention and subsequent verification, her candidacy was declared valid.
The development clears the way for her participation in the upcoming reserved women’s seat selection process in the national parliament.
