Chattogram, Apr 22 (V7N): The Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh has accused the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal, of carrying out a violent attack at Chattogram City College that left an Islamic student activist seriously injured.

The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday when a student activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir was attacked with sharp weapons, causing severe injuries, including nearly severing an ankle.

In a statement issued Tuesday night, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar strongly condemned the attack, claiming that BNP-affiliated “terrorist elements” deliberately attempted to disrupt the peaceful environment of educational institutions.

He said the assault, allegedly carried out with local weapons and sticks by activists linked to Chhatra Dal along with outsiders, left several Shibir activists seriously injured. He described the incident as “brutal, barbaric, and deeply alarming.”

The statement further emphasized that educational institutions must never become spaces for violence or confrontation. It said that while political differences may exist, they should never be expressed through weapons or physical attacks, warning that such actions threaten the future of students and the nation.

Jamaat-e-Islami called for a fair, impartial, and swift investigation into the incident, demanding that those responsible be brought to justice. The party also urged authorities to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and to guarantee peace, security, and coexistence within educational institutions.
