Feb 13 (V7N) — President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu of the Republic of Maldives has extended his congratulations to Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman following the party’s decisive win in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
In a diplomatic message shared on Friday, President Muizzu characterized the BNP’s performance as a "remarkable victory." He expressed his intent to work closely with the incoming administration to further strengthen the regional ties between Male and Dhaka.
"I extend my warm regards and look forward to working closely together to further advance and deepen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Bangladesh," the President said.
Expressing optimism for the future of South Asian bilateral relations, Dr. Muizzu added that he is "confident that our partnership will continue to grow in scope and strength in the years ahead."
The Maldives joins a growing list of international partners, including the United Kingdom, India, and the United States, in acknowledging the election results. The landslide victory, which saw the BNP and its allies secure over 212 seats, marks a major turning point for Bangladesh as it transitions from an 18-month interim government to elected leadership under Tarique Rahman.
