Dhaka, Jan 17 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a two-day program to commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of former President Ziaur Rahman.

The announcement was made by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press conference at the BNP central office in Paltan on Saturday afternoon.

According to Rizvi, the program will begin on January 19 with a wreath-laying ceremony at Ziaur Rahman’s tomb at 11 am, attended by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman. On the same day, flag hoisting at the party office and prayer mahfils will be held in various districts as appropriate.

The Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) will also organize a medical camp as part of the observances.

On January 20, a discussion meeting will be held at 11 am at the Institute of Diplomats auditorium in Kakrail, Dhaka, where different political figures and eminent personalities will speak on Ziaur Rahman’s contributions.

Rizvi also noted that posters and special supplements commemorating the day will be published in various national dailies on January 19.
