Dhaka, Jan 16 (V7N) — A virtual meeting was held between BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman and senior officials of US President Donald Trump’s administration, focusing on bilateral trade and future economic cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States.
The meeting was led by US Trade Representative Jameson Greer and took place at 9:00 am on Friday (January 16). Tarique Rahman joined the discussions virtually from his residence in Gulshan, according to BNP Chairman’s Press Secretary AAM Saleh (Saleh Shibli).
During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on Bangladesh–US trade relations, including mutual tariffs, existing trade barriers, and various aspects of expanding future economic cooperation. They also exchanged views on strengthening trade and investment potential between the two countries.
From the US side, Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia Brendan Lynch and Director for South and Central Asia Emily Ashby were present at the meeting.
Representing the BNP, Joint Secretary General and International Affairs Committee member Humayun Kabir also participated in the discussion.
Both parties expressed interest in enhancing bilateral economic engagement and exploring avenues for deeper cooperation in the coming days.
