Dhaka, Dec 26 (V7N)- BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has described the return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman after 17 years in exile as a moment that “came, saw, and won the hearts of the people.”

On Friday (December 26), Salahuddin wrote on his verified Facebook account, praising Tarique Rahman as a “visionary leader of the 21st century—a clear plan for the people and a deep commitment to the nation.”

Citing part of Tarique Rahman’s speech, Salahuddin noted: “I have a plan, for the people of my country, for my country.” He concluded his post by saying of Tarique Rahman: “He came, he saw, he conquered.”

The phrase echoes the legendary words of Roman general Julius Caesar, “Veni, vidi, vici” (“I came, I saw, I conquered”), used by Salahuddin Ahmed to highlight Tarique Rahman’s impact upon his return.

Tarique Rahman arrived in Dhaka on Thursday at around 12:15 pm with his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman. After landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, he attended a grand reception at the 300-feet area in Purbachal and later returned to his Gulshan residence after visiting his mother at Evercare Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.

Salahuddin Ahmed’s remarks reflect the enthusiasm among BNP leaders and supporters following Tarique Rahman’s homecoming after nearly two decades.
