Dhaka, Dec 26 (V7N)- BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman left his Gulshan residence on Friday at 2:52 pm to pay his respects at the tomb of martyred President Ziaur Rahman.

After reciting Fatiha and visiting the grave, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to proceed to the National Memorial in Savar to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War.

A large number of party leaders and activists have gathered near the tomb to welcome Tarique Rahman, with several senior BNP leaders also present at the venue.

Speaking to the media, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the people have welcomed Tarique Rahman with a “royal return” and expressed hope that under his leadership, Bangladesh will become a truly democratic state.

Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas expressed optimism that Tarique Rahman’s return will help clear political uncertainties, including those related to upcoming elections.

Tarique Rahman’s visits to these symbolic sites are seen as significant steps following his return to the country after 17 years in exile.
