Dhaka, Sept 16 (V7N) – Commerce Secretary Md Ataur Rahman Khan has directed officials concerned to take necessary measures for speedy and effective implementation of the decisions taken at the meeting of the Secretaries' Committee with the Cabinet Secretary.
He gave the directives while chairing a meeting on implementation of the decisions at the conference room of the Ministry of Commerce at the Bangladesh Secretariat today, according to a press release.
The meeting stressed proper handling of government cases, quick resolution of land-related disputes, implementation at the field level of decisions taken at the Deputy Commissioners' Conference, and regular review of progress in these areas.
The commerce secretary said regular monitoring, effective coordination and accountability must be ensured in every activity to implement important government decisions within the stipulated timeframe. He also instructed officials to identify long-pending government cases and land-related complexities on a priority basis and take necessary steps for their resolution.
The meeting also emphasized following proper legal and administrative procedures in drafting and implementing laws and regulations, increasing the use of modern technology, monitoring officials' performance and ensuring greater speed and professionalism in official activities through training where necessary.
The commerce secretary directed officials to expedite the recruitment process for vacant posts in the Ministry of Commerce and its subordinate departments and agencies. He also called for necessary initiatives to abolish posts deemed unnecessary.
He further instructed officials to ensure transparency and accountability in implementing priority projects of the Ministry of Commerce.
The meeting decided to take necessary measures for speedy implementation of decisions taken by the Ministry of Commerce and its subordinate departments and agencies, regular follow-up, and further strengthening transparency, accountability and efficiency in government activities.
The first meeting of the Secretaries' Committee, comprising secretaries, was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani.
The Secretaries' Committee was formed to ensure better coordination among government ministries and divisions and to expedite the implementation of key government decisions. The committee's meetings are part of the government's efforts to improve governance, enhance administrative efficiency, and ensure timely delivery of public services. The Commerce Ministry's follow-up meeting reflects the government's focus on accountability and results-oriented administration.
