DHAKA, Sept 13, V7N — State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr MA Muhit today said the government has planned major state investment in technology-driven innovation and research to overhaul the country's healthcare system.
He made the remarks at a plenary discussion titled "Health Innovation for All: Expanding Access to Affordable and Inclusive Care" held at the Plenary Hall of Novo Theatre in the capital today.
The Ministry of Science and Technology organised the event as part of the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026.
Prime Minister's wife and Vice President of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation Dr Zubaida Rahman spoke at the event as the chief guest.
Prime Minister's Special Assistant for Health Dr SM Ziauddin Haider moderated the event while Prof AK Azad Khan presented the keynote paper.
Muhit said there is no scope to keep healthcare under a "business-as-usual" approach.
"The health sector is being transformed into a technology-friendly and modern system to ensure quality, affordable and equitable healthcare for all, regardless of rich or poor people," he added.
The state minister said that initiatives have been taken to establish a national digital health system, introduce health cards and build a well-defined referral network to protect the health of the country's 20 crore citizens.
"Once this central platform is established, health-related information of all citizens will be preserved, while transparency and accountability in the healthcare system will be ensured," he said.
