Dhaka, Sept 3 (V7N) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sought records related to the appointment, promotion and transfer of officials and employees under the Youth and Sports Ministry during the tenure of former adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, as part of an investigation into allegations of corruption and irregularities.
Assistant Director of the ACC’s Public Relations Department Md Tanzir Ahmed confirmed the information to journalists today. The commission today sent a letter to the secretary of the Youth and Sports Ministry seeking the relevant information and records, instructing that the requested information and documents be sent to the ACC by September 10.
The letter, signed by Md Zahid Kalam, deputy director of the ACC headquarters and head of the investigation team, said a four-member special investigation team had been formed to conduct an impartial inquiry into the allegations and submit a report. The letter sought all information and relevant administrative records concerning the appointment, promotion and transfer of officials and employees under the Youth and Sports Ministry during Bhuiyan's tenure .
The ACC also sought certified copies of records relating to transfers carried out under two memorandums issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on May 7, 2025 and April 18, 2026 . Additionally, the commission sought certified copies of all documents relating to assigning current-charge responsibilities to 38 Upazila Youth Development Officers, cancelling such responsibilities and their postings, as well as certified copies of personal files of several Assistant Upazila Youth Development Officers working in Dhaka, Bogura, Barishal, Pabna, Dhamrai and Narsingdi .
The letter requested that the existing rules and regulations and supporting documents be supplied within the stipulated time .
According to ACC sources, the commission is currently examining allegations against former adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Youth and Sports Ministry Secretary Md Mahbub-ul-Alam and other concerned officials of providing benefits in violation of rules and creating a "safeguard" to retain officials through corruption and irregularities .
Bhuiyan served as the Youth and Sports adviser in the interim government led by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus . In a separate development on September 5, 2026, Bhuiyan, along with his wife and brother-in-law, was remanded in custody by a Dhaka court in a money laundering case filed by the ACC . This case involves allegations of money laundering amounting to Tk 180 crore . The ACC has also recently filed a case against Bhuiyan for corruption totaling Tk 6.49 crore .
