Aug 02 (V7N) - The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) organized a day-long training programme on the "Finance Act, 2026: Changes, Impact and Practice" to equip professionals with a clear understanding of the latest fiscal reforms and their practical applications.
Held at the Management FBS Club Limited in Dhaka, the event brought together ICSB members, senior corporate officials, and sector professionals, according to a press release.
In his inaugural speech, ICSB Treasurer and programme coordinator Md. Mizanur Rahman FCS stressed the importance of grasping the changes introduced under the new Act, noting that the training aimed to help professionals effectively implement the updated tax and VAT provisions.
ICSB Secretary and CEO Md. Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury delivered the welcome address and moderated the session.
The training featured presentations from National Board of Revenue (NBR) officials and seasoned tax and corporate finance experts. Resource persons included Rezaul Karim and Md. Nazmul Hossain from NBR, alongside Md. Abdul Aziz FCS, Hadisul Alam FCS, and Dipongkor Dutta FCS from various corporate and consultancy backgrounds.
Sessions covered key amendments to VAT, customs, and income tax laws under the Finance Act 2026, as well as practical aspects of TDS, VDS, and individual income tax compliance.
Former NBR Commissioner of Income Tax Md. Nuruzzaman Khan attended as guest speaker, sharing insights on implementing the new fiscal measures.
The programme wrapped up with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to discuss real-world challenges with the resource persons. At the closing, ICSB Vice President Md. Sharif Hasan FCS distributed certificates to attendees.
The institute noted that the training was part of its continuing professional development initiatives aimed at strengthening corporate professionals' capacity to navigate evolving tax and regulatory frameworks.
