Aug 01 (v7n) - Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu has emphasized that while medicine is a prestigious and noble profession, earning a degree alone is not enough—doctors must also win the trust and affection of their patients through compassionate behavior and humane conduct.
The minister made the remarks while addressing the oath-taking and orientation ceremony for the 62nd MBBS batch of intern doctors at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC).
Congratulating the new physicians, Minu urged them to uphold honesty, dedication, and patriotism in their professional lives, reflecting the oath they had just taken. He called on them to serve the underprivileged with sincerity and protect the reputation of their alma mater.
Recalling RMC's proud legacy, he noted that its talented graduates have earned recognition both at home and abroad.
The minister also outlined the government's development plans for Rajshahi's healthcare sector, announcing the establishment of a Dental Medical College and a modern specialized hospital with Chinese cooperation. He also pledged to complete the unfinished 12-storey hospital building and fully operationalize the Children's Hospital.
The event was presided over by RMC Hospital Director Brigadier General P K M Masud Ul Islam. Special guests included chest disease specialist Dr. Wasim Hossain, public health expert Professor Dr. Mofakharul Islam, RMC Principal Professor Dr. Khandaker Faisal Alam, and Vice-Principal Professor Dr. Zahirul Haque.
Earlier in the ceremony, 216 intern doctors took their professional oath. Officials, doctors, teachers, guardians, local leaders, and media personnel were also present.
