NARSINGDI, July 19, (V7N) — BNP Joint Secretary General and lawmaker for Narsingdi-1 (Sadar) Khairul Kabir Khokon warned that anyone attempting to exploit the spirit of the July movement for political advantage or “to fish in troubled waters” would face consequences and fail to win public support.

He made the remark at the District Shishu Academy auditorium this evening.

Narsingdi district unit BNP organized the event to mark the July 19 Narsingdi Prison Uprising Day.

“If anyone tries to sell the spirit of July and use it to fish in troubled waters, the consequences will not be good. The people will not stand by them," he said.

Khokan said the BNP cherished the spirit of July in its heart and soul, alleging that the current opposition was once again engaged in conspiracy.

“They say that if this government fails to fulfill its promises to the people, it will meet the same fate as the previous government. But they should first look at their own past. If anyone tries to put the BNP and the Awami League in the same bracket or weigh them on the same scale, they are living in a fool's paradise," he said.

Khokon said the BNP had fought alongside others during the 17-year movement against the previous regime and claimed that the people were well aware of the contribution made by each political force.

Narsingdi district BNP General Secretary and MP for Narsingdi-3 (Shibpur) Monjur Elahi, district BNP Vice Presidents M.A. Jalil, Advocate Bached Bhuiyan, AKM Golam Kabir Kamal, Harun Or Rashid, Abu Saleh Chowdhury, Faruk Uddin Bhuiyan, Akbar Hossain, Khabirul Islam Babul, BG Rashid Nowsher, Robiul Islam Robi, Aminul Haque Bacchu, Organising Secretary Mazharul Haque Titu, Joint General Secretary Mohsin Hossain Bidyut, and other party leaders also addressed the meeting held at the District Shishu Academy auditorium.
