THAKURGAON, July 04 (V7N): BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized that teacher recruitment at the newly established Thakurgaon University must be strictly merit-based, stating the institution must strive for global excellence rather than operating as a conventional university.

Mirza Fakhrul made the comments as the chief guest during the official monogram and logo unveiling ceremony for the university. He vowed that all necessary structural steps will be taken to ensure political influence and nepotism are kept entirely away from the faculty hiring process, aiming to transform the economically underdeveloped district into a prominent regional educational hub.

The event was chaired by the university's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Md. Israfil. During the ceremony, the VC expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the University Grants Commission (UGC), and Mirza Fakhrul for their rapid support in getting the institution operational. He also acknowledged the artistic contributions of renowned local artists Prof. Mohammad Yunus and Prof. Shishir Bhattacharya, who designed the university’s newly launched monogram.
