DHAKA, May 31 (V7N) – Bangladesh Bridge Authority collected nearly Tk 64 crore in toll revenue from vehicles crossing the Padma and Jamuna bridges over the last 10 days beginning May 21.
According to Bridges Division Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf, a total of 318,515 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge during the period, generating Tk 361,195,900 in toll revenue.
At the same time, 361,482 vehicles used the Jamuna Bridge, contributing Tk 276,854,900 in toll collections.
In a statement issued today, Rouf said effective management of both bridges ensured safe, smooth and peaceful road travel for Eid-ul-Azha holidaymakers.
He noted that although traffic volume was significantly higher this year compared to previous years, there were no major incidents of public suffering or severe traffic congestion during the Eid travel period.
The statement added that the statistics demonstrated the capability and efficiency of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority in managing the country’s key road infrastructure and handling increased holiday traffic pressure successfully.
