BHOLA, May 26, (V7N): Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram today urged both the treasury bench and the opposition party to extend full cooperation to one another in order to place a pro-people national budget that effectively brings comfort to public life. The Speaker made these remarks while addressing and replying to queries from media representatives during a press briefing held at the Bhola Circuit House this afternoon.
During the media interaction, Hafiz Uddin categorically stated that as the custodian of the house, he would strictly ensure that the opposition bench receives adequate time on the parliament floor to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities. He emphasized that an active, vocal, and well-timed opposition is crucial for maintaining the democratic accountability of the government, particularly during crucial financial debates like the upcoming budget session.
The Speaker noted that he had personally observed a very positive spirit of mutual cooperation between the ruling and opposition parties during previous parliamentary sessions. He expressed his optimistic hope that this constructive political environment would continue to thrive, allowing the legislature to operate smoothly without any unnecessary deadlock or walkouts.
Reflecting on the performance of the current legislature, Hafiz Uddin shared his view that the National Parliament has successfully met the core aspirations and high expectations of the general public. He confidently stated that in the coming days, the lawmakers would be able to play an even more proactive and efficient role in addressing the everyday struggles of the people.
The Speaker expressed his profound hope that all elected members of parliament, regardless of their political affiliation, would work dedicatedly to fulfill the trust and expectations placed upon them by the citizens. He reminded the lawmakers that their primary duty remains serving the electorate and transforming the parliament into the center of all national development initiatives.
The press briefing took place on the occasion of the Eid holidays, as Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed arrived in his home district of Bhola on Tuesday afternoon for an official four-day visit. Large crowds of local leaders and citizens gathered along the route to welcome the veteran freedom fighter and Bir Bikram recipient back to his roots.
The Speaker made a brief stopover at the Bhola Circuit House to conduct official business and meet with local administrators before heading directly to his home constituency in Lalmohan. Local party activists and structural coordinators arranged extensive welcoming setups along the path to honor the parliamentary chief.
Senior administrative and law enforcement officials were present at the Circuit House event to receive the Speaker, including Bhola Deputy Commissioner Dr. Shamim Rahman and District Council Administrator Golam Nabi Alamgir. Bhola Superintendent of Police Md. Shahidullah Kawshar was also present along with other senior local dignitaries to ensure smooth operations.
