May 25 (V7N) - Bangladesh and Kuwait have renewed their commitment to deepen cooperation in manpower export, investment, civil aviation and tourism during a high-level meeting in Kuwait. The discussions took place as Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir visited Kuwait as the special envoy of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He was accompanied by State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat and Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Kuwait.  

On Sunday, the delegation paid a courtesy call on Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Both sides exchanged views on strengthening the longstanding friendship and expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Greetings from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman were conveyed to the Kuwaiti foreign minister during the meeting.  

Bangladesh expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s support of its candidacy in the upcoming United Nations Resident Representative election. The Kuwaiti foreign minister welcomed the progress in bilateral relations and voiced optimism that cooperation would continue to grow in the years ahead.  

Humayun Kabir also delivered an invitation from Prime Minister Rahman to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to visit Bangladesh. He handed over a goodwill message wishing peace, security and prosperity for the people of Kuwait, while reaffirming Bangladesh’s dedication to stronger ties.  

State Minister Millat emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in civil aviation, trade, investment and manpower sectors. The Kuwaiti foreign minister praised Bangladesh’s humanitarian initiatives, describing them as a shining example of the brotherly relations between the two nations.  

As part of the goodwill gesture, Humayun Kabir and State Minister Millat formally handed over food supplies to Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. This gift was sent on behalf of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.  

Around 240 tonnes of essential food items are being transported to Kuwait through multiple flights. The symbolic gesture reflects Bangladesh’s commitment to friendship and solidarity with Kuwait.  

The meeting highlighted the shared vision of both countries to expand cooperation beyond traditional areas, ensuring mutual benefit and stronger regional ties.  

Bangladesh and Kuwait’s reaffirmation of their partnership demonstrates a forward-looking approach, combining diplomacy, humanitarian support and economic collaboration to strengthen their bond in the years ahead.
