DHAKA, May 21, (V7N) – Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam has said the government is working to build a modern, safe, and internationally standard communication network across Bangladesh, with continued support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) playing a crucial role in achieving this goal.

The minister made the remarks when a JICA delegation, led by Takahashi Junko, Chief Representative of JICA Bangladesh Office, paid a courtesy call at his office in the Bangladesh Secretariat. State Minister for Railways and Road Transport and Highways Division Habibur Rashid, MP, was also present.

Discussions focused on ongoing development activities in the road, bridge, railway, and shipping sectors, including construction of sustainable infrastructure, adoption of modern technology, and future cooperation prospects.

Minister Rabiul Alam reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernizing transport and communication systems to ensure safe, efficient, and world-class connectivity. He praised JICA’s long-standing role as a development partner and highlighted its contributions to Bangladesh’s infrastructure growth.

The JICA delegation expressed interest in continuing its partnership and assured enhanced cooperation in future projects, signaling stronger collaboration in building sustainable and globally competitive transport networks.
