Faridpur, April 25 (V7N) — State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Faridpur-2, Shama Obaed Islam, has declared that the government will enforce strict transparency and accountability in all infrastructure and development initiatives within her constituency. Speaking at the inauguration of a canal excavation program in Nagarkanda Upazila on Saturday, the Minister emphasized that no irregularities or corruption would be tolerated. She noted that the excavation projects, which span from Monoharpur to Choushara in Laskardia Union and from Senhati Mokka Mosque to the river confluence in Saltha Upazila, are vital for the region's agricultural and environmental health.

The State Minister stated that she has taken personal responsibility to oversee the transparent implementation of these public-interest projects to ensure they provide maximum benefit to the local community. She issued a stern warning that legal and administrative action would be taken against anyone found guilty of corruption, regardless of their political affiliation or social standing. This commitment to reform is part of a broader effort to ensure that state resources are utilized efficiently for the welfare of the people of Faridpur.

Prior to the inauguration ceremony, Shama Obaed Islam attended a high-level anti-drug and anti-terrorism meeting held at the Nagarkanda Police Station. During the session, she called for heightened public awareness and community cooperation to eliminate social vices and maintain law and order in the region. She highlighted that social stability is a prerequisite for sustainable development and urged local leaders to work closely with law enforcement agencies to protect the youth from the influence of extremism and narcotics.

The day’s activities concluded with a program organized by the Upazila Agriculture Office, where the State Minister distributed free hand-spray machines among local farmers. The distribution is intended to modernize local farming practices and boost agricultural productivity in the district. The events were attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Zila Parishad Administrator, the Superintendent of Police, and various upazila-level administrative officers, reflecting a coordinated effort to address both the developmental and security needs of the constituency.
