TANGAIL, March 18, (V7N) – With Eid approaching, the flow of homebound travelers has surged, leading to a sharp rise in traffic on the Dhaka–Tangail–Jamuna Bridge highway.
According to officials, a total of 46,963 vehicles crossed the Jamuna Bridge in the 24-hour period from midnight Monday to midnight Tuesday, generating Tk 3.39 crore in tolls.
- Dhaka-bound vehicles: 19,445, contributing Tk 1.66 crore.
- North Bengal-bound vehicles: 27,498, contributing Tk 1.72 crore.
Executive Engineer Syed Riaz Uddin confirmed the figures Wednesday morning, noting that despite the increased traffic volume, no significant congestion has been reported so far.
To manage the surge, authorities have deployed 18 toll booths—nine on each side of the bridge—with dedicated motorcycle lanes at two booths on either end. Officials said continuous monitoring is underway, and law enforcement agencies are actively working to ensure smooth traffic flow.
