DHAKA, March 16, (V7N) – The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 15 individuals during a block raid in the capital’s Paltan area, part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in crime-prone zones.
According to a DMP press release, the operation was conducted in Ershad Road near the National Football Stadium betwee 8:00 pm and 11:00 pm on Sunday. The raid was carried out by the Motijheel Zonal Team of DB’s Motijheel Division, alongside the Illegal Weapons Recovery and Narcotics Control Team under Paltan Police Station.
The detainees include: Md. Shahadat (18), Md. Robin (18), Helal (39), Helal (35), Md. Shahidul Islam (19), Md. Jewel (27), Hridoy (27), Badsha (28), Md. Jasim Sardar (28), Md. Arif (35), Md. Farhad (35), Sheikh Shahidul Islam Nadim (37), Jamal (36), Ismail (32), and Md. Babul Bashar (35).
Following their arrest, the individuals were produced before the Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court. After summary trials, two were sentenced to 20 days of simple imprisonment, 11 received 15 days of simple imprisonment, while two were acquitted.
Police officials confirmed that similar block raid operations will continue across Dhaka to curb crime and ensure public safety.
