DHAKA, Mar 9, (V7N) – The government today issued a notification urging citizens to remain vigilant against the circulation of a so‑called “Enforced Disappearance Prevention and Redress Ordinance‑2025” on social media, describing it as fake, fabricated and misleading.

An official handout said a vested group is deliberately spreading false information with the aim of creating confusion, instability and misinformation among the public. The government stressed that no such ordinance exists.

“When a government ordinance or law is formulated, it is published through the appropriate process and the public is informed through relevant government and mass media,” the notification said, urging people not to believe or share unverified content from social media.

Authorities warned that legal action may be taken against those responsible for spreading rumours and propaganda. Citizens were advised to remain cautious and avoid amplifying misleading information.

The handout added that collective awareness and responsible behaviour are the most effective tools to prevent rumours and false information, and called on the media and public to cooperate in safeguarding social stability.
