SYLHET, Feb 21, (V7N) -Indian Assistant High Commissioner to Bangladesh Aniruddha Das today paid a courtesy call on Commerce, Industries and Jute and Textiles Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir at the Sylhet Circuit House.
During the meeting, they discussed expanding India’s trade with the Sylhet region, boosting industrial development, and strengthening bilateral economic ties. Key issues included increasing import and export through Sylhet’s land ports, removing trade barriers, enhancing Indian investment in Bangladesh’s jute and textile sectors, and encouraging Indian businesses to invest in Sylhet’s industrial cities.
Minister Muktadir told journalists that Bangladesh and India share a long-standing friendly relationship, which both sides are working to deepen, particularly in trade and industry. He expressed optimism that the discussions would positively impact Sylhet’s economic development.
Aniruddha Das reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
Local senior officials of the concerned ministries were present at the meeting.
