FEB 12 (V7N) - Unofficial results from agents in one municipality and 14 unions show Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Nurul Islam Bulbul (Scales symbol) leading with 189,613 votes. His nearest rival, BNP’s Md. Harunur Rashid (Sheaf of Paddy symbol), has secured 126,997 votes.

Five candidates are contesting in this constituency: BNP’s Harunur Rashid, Jamaat’s Nurul Islam Bulbul, JSD’s Fazlur Islam Khan Suman, Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Md. Monirul Islam, and Ganodhikar Parishad’s Md. Shafiqul Islam.

The constituency has 468,479 registered voters — 236,648 men and 231,831 women — along with 172 polling centres and 928 booths. Voting took place across all centres.
