DHAKA, Feb 11, (V7N) - Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has called upon voters to exercise their franchise freely in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election and Referendum 2026 scheduled for tomorrow.

He made the appeal in a televised address to the nation this evening, which was broadcast live on state-run Bangladesh Television (BTV).

In his speech, the CEC outlined the overall preparations undertaken by the Election Commission and shared the body’s expectations regarding the polls.

Describing voting as not only a civic right but also a solemn responsibility, he expressed hope that citizens across the country would consciously fulfill their democratic duty.

Calling on political parties, candidates and voters to maintain a peaceful and cordial atmosphere, he said, “Differences of opinion are a natural part of the democratic process.”

He urged voters to go to polling centres in a festive spirit and cast their ballots for the candidates of their choice.

Regarding the acceptance of election results, the CEC said that victory and defeat are natural outcomes of democracy and must be accepted normally by all sides.

He also called upon election officials to discharge their duties sincerely, setting aside personal hardship or limitations, to make the election a success.

Reaffirming the Commission’s commitment to ensuring peaceful voting, he said election officials, judicial officers and law enforcement agencies are actively deployed in the field to prevent any untoward incidents.

The CEC expressed optimism that through the collective efforts of all stakeholders, the country would witness a beautiful and peaceful election.

Polling will be held simultaneously across the country from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm tomorrow without any break.
