DHAKA, Feb 11 (V7N): In a comprehensive security operation ahead of the 13th National Parliament Election and referendum scheduled for tomorrow, authorities have deployed Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) and Rapid Action Teams (RATs) across key areas of the capital.

Patrol units were seen operating in Bijoy Sarani, Shahbagh, Baitul Mukarram, Bangla Motor and Wari to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.

According to a press release issued by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), heavily equipped patrol units have been positioned at major intersections, government installations and other sensitive locations as part of precautionary measures.

Officials said the deployments are intended to deter potential disruptions and provide rapid response capability during the election period.

In addition to ground patrols, BGB has launched coordinated search operations with its specialized K-9 Unit Dog Squad. Trained canine teams are conducting security sweeps at transportation hubs, public gathering points and locations identified as high-risk.

Security officials emphasized that the measures form part of a broader nationwide plan to ensure a peaceful and orderly voting process. The primary objective, they said, is to enable citizens to exercise their democratic rights in a secure environment.

Authorities have urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and promptly report any suspicious activity.

While the enhanced deployment has increased the visible security presence in the capital, officials reiterated that the steps are preventive and aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.

The national election and referendum are set to be held tomorrow under heightened security arrangements across the country.
