Ukhiya, Feb 2 (V7N) — A 40-member government delegation, including 33 joint secretaries from various ministries, visited several Rohingya camps in Ukhiya on Sunday to review ongoing humanitarian and management activities. The team, led by Numeiri Zaman, arrived at Camp-4 at 12:55 pm.
The visit began with a briefing at an e-voucher outlet run by NGO CODEC under the World Food Programme (WFP) from 12:20 pm to 12:45 pm. Officials explained the ration distribution process via data cards to the delegation. Members interacted with Rohingya residents collecting food rations and observed the distribution of rice, lentils, flour, soybean oil, eggs, and other essentials.
From 12:55 pm to 1:10 pm, the delegation inspected the watchtower adjacent to the Camp-8 West CIC office. CIC officer Chai Thowaila Chowdhury briefed the team on security and camp management operations.
Between 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm, the delegation visited the Rohingya Cultural Memorial Center at Camp-18, BL/17 block. There, they learned about the history, traditions, furniture, tools, and script of the Rohingya community. A Rohingya music ensemble performed to highlight their culture and heritage.
From 2:15 pm to 2:30 pm, the team toured the Rohingya Center at Camp-10, E/F-36 block, run by the NGO DRC, where a representative briefed them on the center’s ongoing programs.
The visit concluded with lunch at the Camp-10 CIC office from 2:35 pm to 3:00 pm. The delegation departed from Ukhiya camps at 3:15 pm, heading back to Cox’s Bazar.
