Dhaka, Dec 18 (V7N) – Bangla Academy has nominated eight individuals for various awards this year in recognition of their contributions to literature, drama, science, and research. The announcement was made in a press release today.

  • Professor Mansur Musa will receive the Sahityik Mohammad Barkatullah Prabhande Sahitya Puraskar for language-based research, carrying a cash prize of Tk 1 lakh.

  • Khasru Chowdhury will be honored with the Meher Kabir Vigyan Sahitya Puraskar for contributions in nature and science studies.

  • Sanaul Haque Khan will receive the Mazharul Islam Kabita Puraskar for Bengali poetry. Both awards carry Tk 1 lakh each.

  • Hafiz Rashid Khan will receive the Sadat Ali Akhand Sahitya Puraskar for his research on the life and literature of ethnic groups.

  • Tariq Anam Khan has been awarded the Professor Momtazuddin Ahmed Natyajan Puraskar for his contributions to acting, drama direction, and organizing cultural programs. Both awards carry Tk 1 lakh each.

  • Shibbrata Barman has been honored with the Abu Rushdie Literary Award for his contribution to translated literature (Tk 1 lakh).

  • Shafiq Islam will receive the Halima-Sharfuddin Vigyan Puraskar for presenting mathematics in an accessible and engaging way, specifically for his book Ganiter Rajya Ananda Bhraman (Tk 50,000).

  • The Rabeya Khatun Fiction Award 2025 will go to Subrata Barua for his overall contribution to fiction (Tk 2 lakh) and Anisur Rahman (under age 49) for his storybook Sisyphus Shram published in 2024 (Tk 1 lakh).

The awardees will be formally presented with their honors at the 48th annual meeting of the Bangla Academy General Council on December 27.
