MOULVIBAZAR, May 17, (V7N)– Adviser to the Ministries of Labour, Employment and Shipping, Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain, stated today that tea workers' wages will increase in direct proportion to any rise in tea prices.
"I will try to talk to the Tea Board to advocate for a price increase in the tea auction. As tea prices rise, the wages of tea workers will be adjusted proportionally," he affirmed.
The adviser made these comments during an exchange of views with tea workers and their leaders in the district.
During the meeting, the tea workers emphasized critical issues concerning their wages, access to medical treatment, and the problems of obtaining pure drinking water and adequate sanitation.
The discussion took place at the Srimangal labour office hall room this afternoon, presided over by Labour and Employment Secretary AHM Shafiquzzaman.
Prior to the meeting, the adviser participated in a tree planting initiative on the premises of the labour office.
