Mongla (Bagerhat) May 16 (V7N): Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury is scheduled to inaugurate the Coast Guard's newly constructed boat workshop and slipway in Mongla tomorrow, Saturday afternoon.
Coast Guard Media Officer (Dhaka) Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid stated that the inauguration ceremony for the newly built boat workshop and slipway at Coast Guard Base Mongla, under the Coast Guard West Zone, will be held on Saturday. The event will be attended by Md. Jasim Uddin Khan, Joint Secretary of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs; Rear Admiral Md. Ziaul Haque, Director General of the Coast Guard; Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh; and other invited guests, including secretaries from various ministries and high-ranking officials from the Navy, Naval Police, Forest Department, and Mongla Port.
The foundation stone for this project was laid on January 11, 2024. The newly constructed boat workshop and slipway, equipped with the latest technology, will have the capacity to dock boats up to 20 meters in length and undertake various types of repair work. This facility is the only one of its kind in the western zone of the Coast Guard. It is expected to play a significant role not only in the maintenance of Coast Guard vessels but also in the future repair of boats belonging to the Bangladesh Navy, Border Guard Bangladesh, Mongla Port, Naval Police, Forest Department, and BIWTA. The Home Affairs Advisor will officially unveil the name plaque of the boat workshop and slipway on Saturday afternoon.
