Venice, Sep 08 (V7N)- Bangladeshi actress Ajmeri Haque Badhon has alleged that she was physically assaulted and harassed by a group of expatriate Bangladeshis while visiting Venice, Italy.
Badhon said in a live broadcast on her verified Facebook page on Monday night local time that the group threw water, soft drinks and rotten eggs at her and also physically assaulted her.
According to the actress, some of those involved identified themselves as supporters of the July Movement and claimed to be associated with the Venice Awami League and Chhatra League. A video circulating on social media reportedly shows several people confronting and attempting to attack her.
Badhon said her brother, who was accompanying her, tried to move her to a safe place during the incident. She also alleged that the attackers threw her phone, struck her around the ear and forcibly made political slogans while recording the incident.
Speaking during the Facebook Live, Badhon said she had gone to a park with her brother when the group confronted them. She claimed that her brother's young child was also present at the time.
After the incident, Badhon appeared visibly distressed during the live broadcast and said she had sustained injuries. She later filed a complaint with local police regarding the incident.
Badhon is currently in Italy to attend the Venice Film Festival.
