Netrakona, Oct 15 (V7N) – The district administration of Netrakona observed Global Handwashing Day on Wednesday morning with a colorful rally, handwashing demonstration, and discussion meeting aimed at promoting hygiene awareness under the theme “Be a Handwashing Hero.”
The program was organized by the District Administration and the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), Netrakona . The rally began at 9:45 a.m. from the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and concluded with a practical handwashing demonstration.
Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room. The session was chaired by Executive Engineer of DPHE Md. Naeeb Ali Khan and conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner Rafiquzzaman. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdullah Al Mahmud Zaman attended as the chief guest.
Additional Police Superintendent (Sadar Circle) Sajal Kumar Sarkar and Deputy Director of the Local Government Department and Municipal Administrator Mohammad Ariful Islam Sardar joined the event as special guests.
Among others, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Asma Binte Rafiq, District Primary Education Officer Md. Shahidul Azam, Medical Officer of the Civil Surgeon’s Office Dr. Dawood Sharif, and student representatives Md. Jinnatul Islam and Rawnak Jahan Tuba also spoke at the event.
Speakers emphasized that regular handwashing with soap is a simple yet powerful way to prevent infectious diseases and maintain public health. They urged everyone—especially students—to become advocates for good hygiene practices in their homes and communities.
