Habiganj May 10 (V7N) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has issued a high alert along the Bangladesh-India border in Madhabpur, Habiganj. The alert was declared on Saturday afternoon by Lieutenant Colonel Md. Tanzilur Rahman, commander of 55 BGB.
According to a BGB press release, this heightened alert is in response to the current situation and follows instructions from the BGB headquarters. Patrols have been intensified at every Border Out Post (BOP) within the upazila. Additionally, intelligence surveillance has been increased, and strict monitoring of all suspicious activities is being conducted with the cooperation of local residents. The BGB stated their readiness to prevent any attempts of push-in across the border, emphasizing their primary goal of protecting the country's sovereignty and security. BGB sources indicated that this state of alert at the border will remain in effect.
Habiganj correspondent: National Primary Education Week 2025 was observed in Madhabpur, Habiganj, under the theme "Ensure quality education, build a discrimination-free Bangladesh". The Upazila Education Office organized a discussion meeting, prize distribution ceremony, and cultural program on Saturday. Upazila Executive Officer Md. Zahid Bin Kashem graced the discussion meeting as the chief guest, with Upazila Education Officer S.M. Zakirul Hasan presiding. Other notable attendees included Municipal BNP President Golap Khan, General Secretary Alauddin Al Roni, former Vice Chairman Abdul Aziz, Assistant Education Officer Kabir Hossain Bhaiya, Head Teacher Rifat Ara, Assistant Teacher Mahmudul Hasan Roni, Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Sirajul Islam Tanzil, Joint General Secretary of the Press Club Alamgir Kabir, and Acting President of the Upazila Press Club Tofazzal Hossain Chowdhury. The chief guest later distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions.
