PABNA, Sept 9 (V7N) — Police recovered the body of a 55-year-old onion trader from a pond in Santhia upazila of Pabna district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Aziz, son of the late Sekhen Sardar of Dangamachh village in Khetupara Union of the upazila.

Police recovered his body from a pond in the Mianpur Minarpara area at around 10am on Tuesday (Sept 8).

According to local residents and family members, Aziz left his home after Isha prayers on Monday night (Sept 7) but did not return.

On Tuesday morning, local residents spotted a body floating in Manik's pond in the Mianpur Minarpara area and informed police.

Santhia police went to the scene and recovered the body from the pond. Local residents subsequently identified the deceased as Abdul Aziz.

Santhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Anisur Rahman confirmed the incident, saying police recovered the body of a man named Aziz from the pond and sent it to the morgue at Pabna General Hospital for an autopsy.

He said police initially suspected that Aziz had been murdered by unidentified individuals sometime during the previous night.

Police said an investigation into the incident is underway.
